Mobile MG Rover Repair Service

Cannock to Broadway

Almost home after a really good day. First call in Cannock and a pleasure to meet Steve and his wife for cambelt service on his fantastic looking MGF 160, he also wanted us to underseal the whole car. Not a spot of rust to be seen! Near side rear top ball joint replaced.

He also wanted us to give the car a check over for peace of mind. A real pleasure to do as all nuts and bolts behaved themselves!

From there we travelled to Broadway to see Liz & Marc as Little Red had been experiencing problems with the alternator. Voltage regulator replaced and all back to rights again. Thanks so much Liz for the cuppa and cake! Great to see you and we look forward to the further adventures of Little Red.

The First MG TF Restoration Project

A productive day, collected the TF135 from Beverley and took her up to the unit, really great moment having our first project on site.

We then went to collect Jon’s much neglected, through lack of time, but very loved F. We can’t wait to restore her to her former glory (not mentioning of course removing the engine from the dining room)! There’s so much history involved with this car, it will be an exciting project to record and so pleased we now have the space to do it in.

Next chance we have will be to collect the other TF we have set aside for restoration.

West Heslerton

West Heslerton, near Malton was our destination this morning to see Nigel for cambelt service on his TF135 that he is putting back to rights. Whilst there we pressure tested his ZT and found a leaking hose, all sorted for him. Thanks to Lucie for your recommendation.

MG TF and MG ZT

We then went on to look at a potential sales car with a snapped cambelt and blown engine. General condition was good, this is one of two we have bought so far to put back to rights at the unit and sell on.

Updates will be posted on their progress, great to save what will be two cracking little cars.

A gem of an MG TF 135

Great to see Mark again today In Conisbrough with his new acquisition. Got himself a bit of a gem, a TF135 that had obviously been very well cared for in its previous life.

We went to do head gasket, cambelt service, underfloor pipes and generally check it over.

TF160 Cambelt Service

Dronfield was our destination this morning to meet Scott for cambelt service on his TF160, he has really got it looking fantastic. We also changed the gearbox oil and replaced the Rez pack. He had also sourced a spoiler, so asked us to fit that while we were there, it really suits the car. Really great morning and thank you Scott for all the cuppas, hope you have lots of fun this weekend.

MG TF 160 looking fantastic!

From there we went to see Geoff in Grimethorpe who had called us yesterday regarding a problem with his starter motor. New one on stock on the van, but investigation proved to be a dodgy connection on the starter solenoid. Also whilst there resealed the half way connection on the dipstick. Car looks really good since our last visit.

Today in Kingswood

Kingswood, Hull today to see Gaz for head gasket replacement on his MG ZR160.

He had thought it had been going for a while. All sorted and back up and running nicely. Took a bit longer to do with having aircon. Heat shield over the exhaust manifold had disintegrated, fortunately had one on the van that we had been given by Andy in South Wales so that was fitted.

EXCITING NEWS – WORKSHOP!

We are really happy to announce, after a few years of searching, that today we signed the lease on a brand new workshop. This will focus on major renovations and bigger projects that we can’t always complete on a driveway in one day, of which we have been asked to do many times and unfortunately had to turn down.

We are also planning a limited number of cars to be fully mechanically renovated for sale.

We will still, however, be predominantly carrying out our mobile work.

The site has been chosen for its security and ability to provide a body shop, MOT station and salvage yard on the same Industrial Estate.

For now it remains quite a sparse interior until we’ve fully kitted it out, lifts etc all ordered & to be delivered. Sign will be on the wall soon too.

Bookings have already been taken and we’re very much looking forward to adding these new services to our already extensive range. Keep up with what we are doing here on the blog and over on our dedicated MG Restorations page.

We look forward to holding an open day sometime soon and welcoming you all there.
