‘Sparkles’ got her sparkle back today…

South Cleatlam for head gasket and cambelt service on Caroline’s fab looking TF 135 Spark. The engine bolts wouldn’t come undone to do the cambelt the usual way, so we went for our Plan B.

Great to see Caroline today, was a very quiet one than usual as everyone was at work.

Thanks for all the cuppas and the doughnuts Caroline, hope you enjoy your test run out in her tomorrow to the shops.

We then went over to Acaster Malbis, where it was lovely to see Mick and Linda again for an issue with the clutch on their MGF mpi.

The clutch release arm had seized, and therefore subsequently popped the slave cylinder. So arm freed off and new slave cylinder fitted, resulting in a lovely light clutch again.

Good day, and managed to dodge the rain 🌧

Service day in New Mills…

First in line was Nev’s TF Spark, that was looking very good after a recent respray. Minor service done and new resonator pack fitted.

Next up was Richard’s, always very tidy, MGF for minor service, clutch fluid replacement and gear box oil fill up.

Then finally Paul’s lovely TF 135 for minor service and fitting of a new resonator pack too.

What a lovely day, really great to see everyone and have a chat and a catch-up. Thank you to Richard for organising it.

Great run to and from over Woodhead Pass.

George says, “hello to Rachael”, and sends you a hug 🤗

We finally made it over to see Rob in Rugby this morning…

It was suspected that head gasket, on his recently purchased TF 135 had failed, but on investigation it was found to be a cracked thermostat housing. This was duly replaced. A pre MOT check was also asked to be carried out.

You’ve got yourself a fab car Rob, great to meet you and your lovely parents. Good luck with the move to Scotland!

We then nipped over to Baginton, near Coventry, where it was great to meet Rachel, who needed a fill up of the hydragas on her fab looking MGF.

Great to get ‘Meg’ back up and running again in Peterborough today for Simon, his TF 135.

Last time we were there we noticed that there were a few things pointing towards head gasket failure. Cambelt service was also overdue so both sorted today. The inner timing belt case had been exposed to heat damage so we replaced this, plus alternator belt replaced and a hose that had split.

Interesting that the previous head gasket had been replaced with a combination of the Mk II elastomer gasket and the saver-shim from an MLS gasket and put together with silicone sealant. 🤔

Once back together, the new gasket was obviously quite a lot thinner than the old two put together, so the engine ran quite rich and lumpy for a while. After learning its new fueling it settled down nicely.

Good old Meg, hopefully she will get her annual run up to Glasgow this year with friends! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

It was a Green Day today…

Filey was the destination for our first call, and great to see Alan again, for full cambelt service on his fab looking TF 135. Few gnarly bolts replaced plus a new alternator belt as his had seen better days.

We then went over to Appleton Roebuck, to finally get around to fitting the Lotus clutch slave cylinder support bracket to Allister’s, also fab looking, TF 135.

Thanks for the cuppas and Kit Kat’s and cookies today to keep us energised, very welcome!
