Mobile MG Rover Repair Service

Rough Luck Racing Unit

What a good day!

We received our first customer to the unit this morning, really lovely to see Jeff again. Whilst Jon did a few more things to Rod’s steppy I carried out the minor service on Jeff’s cracking MGF mpi. Great to have a chat over a brew in the sun.

Jon then programmed 2 new keys fobs as Jeff’s was faulty and wouldn’t turn off the immobiliser. A very happy chap!

We then loaded up Rod’s car and took it back to him this afternoon. Fantastic to see Rod’s smiling face as we came round the corner. Owner and pride and joy reunited! Hope you have fun on your run.

Another cuppa and a biscuit, thank you Wendy, we then set off for home, good run back.

Newton to Bridgend

Newton, Ammanford was our first call this morning to meet Matt, who had had to cancel last month as someone had backed in to his TF135. All now repaired we replaced the head gasket. Fortunately, no damage to the head and a very small amount of gunge! Lovely car and great to meet Matt finally, just need to help find him a bumper and bonnet to get him fully sorted.

We then travelled on to Cefn Cribwi near Bridgend, great to meet Gareth & family for cambelt service on his very well loved low mileage TF 1.6 in Royal Blue.

Two more beautiful locations, lovely people and gorgeous weather.

Exeter to Hendy

An enjoyable morning spent in Exeter to meet John for some work on his immaculate MGF vvc 75th Anniversary edition in Black (paint code PAK trim CVC) with red oxford seats. John had asked us to sort out the clutch as wasn’t sure what was occurring with it. Slave cylinder replaced with new. Handbrake also needed adjustment.

MGF 75th Anniversary badge

Jon was in his element as John had a great collection of motorbikes; classic Royal Enfields and Triumphs. Great swapping stories. They had some lovely cats too and the sun was shining.

Lovely drive through beautiful countryside this afternoon to Hendy, near Ammanford.

MGTF 135 Annual Service

What a lovely morning seeing Steve for annual service on his lovely TF 135. Few other bits needed doing, front calipers replaced with some very shiny new 2 pots, heater resistor had stopped working so this was replaced with a new one on stock, boot was leaking where the spoiler was fitted so this was fettled, hopefully no more leaks. Window washer had stopped working, discovered the hose was trapped so this is now sorted.

Great to be able to continue looking after this cracking car.

Nice run down to Exeter this afternoon.

Wakefield

Wakefield was the destination for Jon on Saturday morning to meet Glenn for investigation of oil temperature sensor issue, find and fix coolant leak and free off binding brakes NSF on his 80th Anniversary TF 135, all sorted and ready for a trip to Cornwall.

A visit to eurocarparts etc for me to restock on a few things. Plus chance to catch-up on all messages.

Sutton Coldfield Servicing

What a fantastic day spent in Sutton Coldfield with Paul for work on his MGF Trophy in solar red and Sharon’s MGF Trophy in Anthracite, both cars had cylinder head problems, Paul’s had worn stem seals and Sharon’s had noisy VVC mechs.

He had purchased two brand new cylinder heads and so we swapped these out, including brand new water pumps, tensioners, cambelts and alternator belts. Timing covers, bolts etc all replaced where damaged. Both stunning cars & obviously well loved.

Despite the awful weather, the gazebo did its bit to keep us relatively dry, plus a steady stream of cuppas to keep us warm, thanks Dom 😊, including a freshly baked whole cake for Jon!
Thank you Sharon (smells amazing in the van)!

Look forward to seeing you all at an event or something soon!

Head Gasket and Service on an MGTF

We found ourselves on Clee Hill this morning near Ludlow. Really lovely to meet Brian for head gasket and cambelt service on his very tidy MGTF 115.

Great location with amazing views when the rain gave up for a while, fortunately we had a garage to work in. All went well apart from the crank pulley bolt didn’t want to come undone, got there with a bit of persuasion.

Poor old trusty steed the van struggled a bit with the hills, think it might well be time for a new engine.

MGF Mobile Service in Boston

Boston, Lincs was our destination this morning and really lovely to meet James for investigation of coolant loss on his lovely looking MGF mpi.

After pressure testing the system it was found to be coming from the water pump. James asked us to carry out a full cambelt service since we were in there. Hydragas pump up carried out also, as car was looking a tad low, plus rear pads and discs replaced.

What a great morning. Look forward to seeing you again James. Thanks to your lovely step dad for a cracking brew!

From there we called in to Rimmers for some more stock ahead of our 5 day tour starting tomorrow in Ludlow.
