Macclesfield was our first call this morning and lovely to see Tony again for cambelt service on his TF135. The last time it was serviced was in the garage where he had bought it from many years ago. We found the bottom pulley bolt to be seized. Several tries with breaker bars, impact guns failed to get it moving. Even spinning the engine using the starter motor while the pulley was held by a bar didn’t shift it either. So we had to resort to locking the fly wheel, plus a 7’ bar! Starter motor bolts had also seized into the casting. So after a bit of a battle we succeeded.

Whilst there Tony asked us to look at a Mk II MGF in Sienna that someone had previously been trying to carry out a cambelt service on, Tony was concerned that there was damage to the head. After putting it back together again, Jon found that the timing was 170 degrees out on the inlet cam! He was very lucky that there weren’t any bent valves. Car turned over nicely with a big sigh of relief from Tony.

We then ventured on to Swinton and great to see David again who we had met a Pateley Bridge on our stand. He had called us asking us to come and investigate some clutch issues he was having. Slave cylinder seals replaced,
clutch back to rights again. Plus new alternator belt fitted.

Sun was out all day too!

Saltburn-by-the-Sea was our first destination today, we met Phil on our stand at Pateley Bridge who booked is in for exhaust back box replacement and fitting of a wind break. Great to see Phil again and his immaculate, very low mileage 75th Anniversary. Thanks for all the cuppas, biscuits and letting us meet Paris, your gorgeous Rottweiler.

We then went a bit further north to see Rob and collect his lovely alumina MGF that we took back to the unit for lots of TLC. Safely delivered and on the lift this evening ready for work to commence in the morning.

Beautiful weather again for the first day of autumn.

Well that was a cracking day off! Spent it at the Yorkshire Dales Autograss Club’s BAS round 4 supporting Helen Blake and sponsoring Ladies Class 2.

Absolutely brilliant day.

Thank you to Maureen Hallam for giving us the inspiration to do this, we weren’t ready for it last year but so glad we took the opportunity to do it this time.

Looking forward to next year to do it again.

Trip up to Borrowby in convoy and lovely to meet Tim for suspected head gasket failure and cambelt service on his really lovely looking TF160 in HFN. After some inspection we discovered that the radiator fan had no power although fuses were all ok, we went looking for relays, with no luck there, although when plugged in with diagnostics we could trigger the fan and power it up for a brief moment. Still a mystery but will consult the wiring diagram and speak the guru Mark Stacey this weekend in a field in the Dales.

All now set up in a field with fab friends ahead of a great weekend for Harrogate MG Club show on Sunday.

Louth was our location today for clutch replacement and clutch release arm replaced also on a TF135 in Trophy blue. Great to meet Mike & Angie, a really enjoyable day, good conversation and a constant stream of cuppas thank you. Glad you can finally get out and enjoy her!

Whilst in the area we nipped across to Rimmer Bros with a few moments to spare before they closed to get restocked on a heap of things.

A long but very productive day today, just back home now from the unit. Subframe dropped out of Daisy and everything transplanted into the new galvanized subframe with new clutch, new flywheel, lightweight crank pulley, slave cylinder, 4-2-1 manifold fitted. All holes in the galv subframe tapped out. All looking great and ready to go back into the car.

Great to receive Sean’s TF135 in Celestial Blue for underfloor stainless pipes and anything else that we spot before he comes to collect her next week.

Fab having a bit of a monogram day, though we may have to think about a second lift!
